Grande Prairie Regional Sport Connection’s Try-It Day registration is now open

Registration for the Grande Prairie Regional Sport Connection’s annual Subaru Try-It Day is now open.

Try it day is an opportunity for kids around the community to try a sport for free of charge.

Executive Director for Grande Prairie Regional Sport Connection Heather Llewellyn says that this day is an opportunity for kids to try out a new sport before fully committing.

“Try-It Day is great for our community because it gives our youth a chance to try new sports for free.”

“Sports are expensive, and its a time commitment, so it lets the parents have the kids try it out before they commit to a season.”

Llewellyn added that Try-It Day also gives local sport groups to showcase what they have to offer as well.

“It also lets our sport organizations showcase the programming they have for these kids.”

“A lot of people don’t realize the variety of sports we have in Grande Prairie.”

Llewellyn believes some of the high-demand sports this year will be: martial arts, beach volleyball, mountain biking, golf, fencing, and squash.

The sports this year will range from indoor, outdoor, ice sports, water sports and more.

Subaru Try-it Day is set to take place on September 19, registration can be found on the Sport Connection’s website.
