Wembley Wildcats receive RONA Rookies program support

The Wembley Wildcats are among 150 minor hockey teams across Canada receiving support through the RONA Rookies program this season.

The Wildcats will receive $3,000 from RONA for the 2026-27 season, with $1,000 grant that can be used for tournaments or other team activities, along with jerseys featuring the Wildcats and RONA logos.

RONA officials said the program is intended to support families and help make minor hockey more accessible.

“Hockey has deep roots in Canada’s communities. Through the RONA Rookies program, we are proud to support families and communities that bring the sport to life and to help more kids and teens fully enjoy their season,” said Catherine Laporte, chief digital and marketing officer at RONA inc.

Teams from Lethbridge, Olds, Fort McMurray and Edmonton were also selected out of Alberta to participate in the program.
