15U AA Grande Prairie Reds heading to Western Canadian Championships

The 15U AA Grande Prairie Reds are going to the Western Canadian Championships, and they are calling for the community to team-up and help out.

At the end of July, the Reds took home the tier 1 AA provincials in Parkland County, winning the gold medal game against Medicine Hat 9-8.

Head Coach for the team, Todd Aldred says winning provincials has been the teams goal in the recent years.

“It’s pretty cool, the boys have been working hard at it. It’s kind of been a goal of ours to get to this for about almost three years now.”

“You know, it’s not all the time that a team from Grande Prairie qualifies for westerns, we might be the first team out of Grande Prairie to do so.”

However, the team is now looking towards the community to help strike-out the travel and food costs, for the championships in Prince Albert this week.

“Anything that people are willing to throw at us and help us in anyway, we’re happy to accept and take and represent our community.”

If you are interested in helping out, you can contact the team directly, reach out to the league, or send an E-transfer to: 15UAAReds_1@gpmba.ca

The Reds will be playing from August 14 to 16.
