NWP Wolves women’s hockey team ready to take bite out of ACAC

Northwestern Polytechnic’s Wolves women’s hockey team is hoping the community can come together to pack the rink at their inaugural home game in the Alberta Colleges Athletics Conference on Friday.
NWP President and CEO Dr. Vanessa Sheane says launching the institution’s first women’s hockey team is a big moment not only for the  athletes, coaches, and staff who have worked to get this far, but for the region as a whole.
“We’re excited to bring the Wolves to the ice and even more excited to have our community there cheering them on.”
Pre-game, fans are invited to a tailgate party to help kick off the new season with a BBQ in the parking lot hosted by the City of Grande Prairie and Northwestern Polytechnic starting at 5:30.
Grande Prairie Mayor Jackie Clayton says she’s excited to see a new chapter in women’s hockey in the city.
“We’re looking forward to seeing the community come together, support the team and help create an enduring fan base and home-ice atmosphere for the Wolves.”
The NWP Wolves women’s hockey team will take on NAIT at Weyerhaueuser Arena in Design Works Centre on October 9th, puck drop just after 7 p.m.
