NWP Wolves celebrate successful volleyball season

The Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves volleyball program is celebrating a strong 2025-26 season marked by conference recognition and a fourth-place provincial finish for the men’s team at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference championship.

The Wolves men ended their playoff run in a five-set bronze medal match, falling 3-2 to finish fourth in Alberta. The result marks progress for the program, including a playoff berth, a playoff victory and advancement to the ACAC provincial championship tournament — milestones not reached in decades.

Head coach Lindsey Habib earned ACAC North men’s volleyball coach of the year honours.

“Our student-athletes committed to growth every day,” said Habib. “The consistency and belief this group demonstrated throughout the season were key to the steps we’ve taken as a program.”

The season also featured several individual honours.

Jeremy Kriletich was named ACAC North all-conference at outside hitter, finishing fifth in the conference in total kills with 219 and ranking third in total points with 271 and points per set at 4.2.

“Jeremy’s all-in commitment to every facet of being a student-athlete has benefited our team in every way,” said Habib.

Justice Bigstone earned ACAC North all-conference recognition at middle after leading the conference in total blocks with 50 and blocks per set at 0.81.

“Bigstone’s impact on our team was felt by all,” said Habib.

Caleb Lockington was named a 2025-26 ACAC championship tournament all-star following his performance at provincials.

On the women’s side, Helaina Zeyha was named ACAC North all-conference for her performance and leadership throughout the season.

Gillian Head earned ACAC North women’s volleyball rookie of the year honours in her first collegiate season. She recorded 480 assists.

“Her poise, leadership, and playmaking ability set the tone every match.”

“Our student-athletes have represented Northwestern Polytechnic and our region with integrity, resilience, and competitive excellence,” said president and CEO Vanessa Sheane. “We are proud of the progress across both volleyball programs and confident this season has set a strong foundation for continued growth.”
