Search party organized for Dawson Creek teen missing since 2016

A woman from Fort St. John has made it her mission to do anything she can to find a Dawson Creek teen missing since 2016. On August 18th, Jessica Horne will be holding her third search party for then 15-year-old Denny Poole. She says she never met Poole but his story resonates with her.

“It just bothers me every time I go across the Kiskatinaw Bridge. I just happened to be driving home from Dawson the night he went missing and I saw the RCMP on the bridge looking down with their flashlights. At the time I didn’t know what they were looking for until they released that there was a missing boy.”

Poole was last seen on March 12, 2016 on Highway 97 one kilometre south of the Kiskatinaw River Bridge between Dawson Creek and Fort St. John.

At the time, RCMP said he and another teen had been wandering along the highway and backroads for 20-some hours before Poole split up with the other youth around 7:30 p.m. Less than half an hour later the second teen called RCMP. Poole has not been seen or heard from since.

“I’m just hoping to possibly find Denny if he’s out there and just put him to rest,” Horne says.

She adds that everyone is welcome to come help and things like bear bells, Walkie-talkies and hi-visibility vests will be provided. The search party will leave the rest area at the Kiskatinaw bridge at noon.
