Two Grande Prairie residents have been arrested and charged in connection to an alleged break and enter at a oil and gas site near Hythe.
Beaverlodge RCMP say on Monday, Oct 26, at approximately 3:07 a.m., RCMP received a call reporting a break and enter in progress at an oil and gas site.
When officers arrived, police located two individuals on the site attempting to flee in a pick-up truck. The vehicle was stopped and two males were subsequently taken into custody. While still on scene, police also received a second complaint at another nearby oil and gas site.
A subsequent investigation determined that the two males that were already in police custody, were also those involved in the second complaint.
Police say that a sizeable amount of stolen property from the site was also recovered, including tools and copper wire.
As a result of this investigation, a 28 year-old male and a 31 year-old male were both charged with two counts of break and enter and two counts of possession of stolen property.
Both are expected to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie Nov. 2.
“This is another example of how the Beaverlodge RCMP is reducing crime in the area.” said Staff Sergeant Kris Kyle the Detachment Commander of the Beaverlodge RCMP.
