BNI Northern Connections has once again provided Odyssey House residents with a 195 pieces of winter clothing as part of its the annual Share the Warmth campaign.
The annual campaign has been ongoing since 2019, with more than 1,900 garments, also dry-cleaned for free by Richmond Drycleaners, and donated to the Odyssey House. BNI Northern Connections President Jillian Armstrong says it’s a fantastic feeling to be able to give back to the community, and spread positivity where it can be needed most.
“It’s the power of what people can do when they get together. Our whole group operates on the philosophy of “givers gain”, by giving back, it really just powers everybody,” Armstrong said.
“To know this can give a little bit of comfort, support and smile to somebody is already going through an incredibly tough time; there’s no better feeling to know to know you’re making a difference.”
Armstrong added despite cost of living being observed throughout the country, she is overjoyed that Grande Prairie continues to give so generously to the Share the Warmth campaign.”
“It’s always the most pleasant surprise. Grande Prairie is really the most incredible community the way that people show up for one another. The way there is always a cause to support and the amount of people willing to give to all of those causes is impressive.”
The clothing, after being dry-cleaned by Richmond Drycleaners, was dropped off on October 27th, and will directly benefit street-engaged individuals, single parents, and other residents of the Odyssey House.
