RCMP investigating fatal collision west of Grande Prairie

Two people have died a result of a collision between an SUV and a semi truck west of Grande Prairie nearly two weeks ago.

Beaverlodge RCMP say they received a call shortly after 7:00 a.m., on October 15, reporting of a collision on Range Road 91 and Highway 672.

Mounties say the investigation is still ongoing, however, a preliminary investigation has shown that it appears that the SUV failed to stop when travelling northbound, colliding with the semi going westbound.

Officials add that when first responders arrived both vehicles were engulfed in flames.

The driver of the SUV was located and declared deceased. Police say so far the investigation shows that the driver of the semi was ejected from the truck, and was declared deceased.

Both drivers were the lone occupants of the vehicles.

The investigation remains ongoing.
