Child from Grande Prairie killed in Highway 35 crash

A 5 year old child from Grande Prairie has been killed in a three vehicle collision south of Paddle Prairie. The crash happened on Highway 35 near Keg River around 3:30 Monday afternoon.

Manning RCMP say a truck heading northbound collided with two southbound SUVs. The five year old was in one of the SUVs and was declared dead at the scene. That vehicle was driven by a 35 year old Grande Prairie woman who suffered serious injuries and was airlifted by STARS Air Ambulance to the QEII Hospital. An 11 year old also from Grande Prairie suffered minor injuries and has since been released to family members.

The other SUV had a 70 year old man and 65 year old woman from Medicine Hat in it. They were both treated for minor injuries at the crash scene, along with the 31 year old male truck driver from Grande Prairie.

An RCMP Collision Analyst from Peace River was called to investigate, and mounties say all possible contributing factor are being looked at. No names have been released.
