Alberta officers again able to issue tickets on-the-spot

Provincial officers can again issues tickets on the spot for offences on public lands.

They had the ability from 1979 to 2011, but when the former regulation was scrapped for a new one, specific ticket amounts were removed. Instead, officers would issue a summons to appear in court and then go to trial.

Starting August 6th, they’ll be able to hand out tickets for violations like littering or dumping garbage and driving ATVs through rivers and streams. Penalties range from $100 to $500.
