Green Alert still in effect for Peace River

A green alert is still in effect for the Town of Peace River after water levels rose earlier this week. Levels steadily went down yesterday, but colder weather will likely be needed for the alert to go away.

Changes are also expected to be see late this morning, as it’s been two days since BC Hydro adjusted the flow of the WAC Bennett Dam near Hudson’s Hope on the Peace River.

Residents are asked to be vigilant but should not be alarmed. People should stay away from low-lying river areas like the mouth of the Heart River or the boat launches as they’re unsafe.
