Council re-approves 2026-2029 Strategic Plan

Grande Prairie City Council has re-approved it’s 2026-2029 Strategic Plan.

After a new city council is sworn in, council goes over it’s four year Strategic Plan and project initiatives. Council then re-approves the priorities every quarter, to make sure it still lines up with their goals.

In March earlier this year, Council approved it’s plan, making the four priorities: economic opportunity and resilience, community empowerment and livability, infrastructure and financial responsibility and purposeful leadership and governance.

The Projects and Initiatives that council also decided on includes: initiative status and key milestones, accomplishments and outcomes achieved, adjustments to timelines, as required and alignment with Strategic Plan priorities.

Grande Prairie Mayor Jackie Clayton, says the decision made earlier this week is to help keep the public informed in what council is doing.

“This step that you saw, is just the format that we use to update and keep the public engaged and informed as to the work that we are doing.”

Council re-approved the plan during the September 14th meeting.
