The Grande Prairie Legion will have a new mural on the side of its building, with hopes to have it completed before Remembrance Day.
Currently, a painter is wrapping up their project for a mural on the side of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #54.
The painting is almost completed, as you can already see some of the work finished on the building. The painter is finishing the rest of the project in his shop, with hopes to have it on the Legion before Remembrance Day.
Royal Canadian Legion Branch #54 President Dean Langton says that once completed, the mural will showcase a photographer from Goodfare, who worked for the Royal Canadian Air Force.
“It’s going to look spectacular, showcasing the battle of Ortona, a lot of local people were in it.”
Additionally, the mural will also feature some of the Canadian Forces Snowbirds.
Langton added that so far, the early feedback on the project has been great.
The mural is only one of the many items that the Legion has completed over the last couple of years. In September, the Legion put together two veteran memorial crosswalks.
Currently, the branch is awaiting new flag poles to put outside of the branch, as well.
