Eastlink Centre’s lazy river is now open

The Eastlink Centre says the lazy-river lining replacement is complete.

In a post made to social media, the Eastlink Centre says that on Monday, Feb. 9, the river will be back open to the public.

In 2025, The city of Grande Prairie approved funding towards a $1 million renovation for the lining in the lazy river. The previous liner has being around since the Eastlink Centre opened roughly 13 years ago.

Both the previous and the old liner we’re shipped in from Italy, which made up for a chunk of the costs and the majority of the wait time for the river to be open.

When council first approved the funding, they anticipated to see the river open in early December at the earliest. With the latest time being around Christmas.
