Snowfall warning issued for Tour of Alberta stage 3 route

After a couple of cold and wet days in the Grande Prairie region, the Tour of Alberta riders might next be facing even worse northern weather. A snowfall warning has been issued for the Hinton and Grande Cache area, right where they’re headed next.

Stage three of the Tour will take the cyclists from Grande Cache to Jasper National Park Friday, where rain is expected to turn into five centimetres or more of snow by the morning. 5-1-1 Alberta webcams are already showing white stuff on the ground in the Nordegg area.

Michael Matthews won the second stage of the Tour of Alberta, held in the County of Grande Prairie Thursday. The Australian took the 171.6 kilometre race just a tire ahead of Niklas Arndt. Matthews will wear the yellow leader’s jersey Friday for stage three from Grande Cache to Jasper National Park, a 181.8 kilometre trek that ends with an uphill finish.
