116 Avenue construction starts Thursday, expected to cause delays

Construction on 116 Avenue is scheduled to begin Thursday, June 15th, and will lead to one-lane alternating traffic in the area causing some disruption to drivers. The intersections of 116 Avenue and 102 Street, 105 Street, 106 Street, and 108 Street will also be affected by the construction.

The work includes underground storm lead replacements, and concrete work, along with paving and line marking.

Capital Construction Supervisor Mark Hoseasson says the work will enhance road conditions and ensure the longevity of the 116 Avenue roadway between the Bear Creek Bridges and 102 Street.

Temporary closures and detours will be put in place while construction is underway for the safety of both motorists and pedestrians. Those in the area are being advised to follow signage and alternative routes which will be put in place to navigate the affected areas.
