Another extreme cold warning issued for Grande Prairie

Another extreme cold warning has been issued for Grande Prairie, as frigid temperatures will continue into Saturday locally. Environment Canada says expect temperatures to be minus 42 degrees on Friday, with the wind chill making it feel as cold as minus 50.

Saturday could see Grande Prairie reach lows of minus 36, with wind chill values of minus 44. That looks to be the end of the extreme cold warnings locally, as Sunday’s forecast has a high of minus 16 and a low of minus 17.

Looking ahead to next week, it looks like the extreme cold weather is finally coming to an end. Temperatures could reach as high as two degrees on Tuesday.

Residents are urged to cover up as frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill. Additionally, Environment Canada urges that if it is too cold for you to be outside, you should take the same precautions with your pets.
