Fire service continues at Pete Eager during site construction

Construction is set for the Pete Eager Fire Hall site with no impact on fire service to Grande Prairie. The hall located off of Resources Road will have work done to the concrete apron as part of the Rehab & Drainage Improvements.

Community Safety Director Horacio Galanti explains that they have a strategy to allow fire trucks to come and go easily.

“Depending on the section that they are working, there can be arrangements to have the apparatus enter and exit the fire hall.”

He adds that the work includes new drainage and asphalt are part of the plans. Construction is only taking place on the site and traffic along Resources Road will not be impacted.

“The subject area is within the fire hall property. It is away from the road and it is all in the fire hall site.”

The north fire hall in the city was set to have a concrete floor replacement, but since it wasn’t a priority, money was reallocated to the Pete Eager Hall. There was $216,856 moved from that fund and Galanti says city council will reevaluate that in future years.

Wapiti Gravel Suppliers will be the doing the work at a cost of $460,325 for the Pete Eager Fire Station.
