Driver ejected in icy, fatal crash on Highway 97

Mounties are reminding people about the importance of wearing seatbelts after a fatal crash on the Alaska Highway. The single vehicle collision happened on the south side of the Kiskatinaw River Bridge on Sunday.

Dawson Creek RCMP say the driver lost control, and was ejected when the vehicle rolled. The deceased was the only person inside and was declared dead at the scene. They were a resident of Dawson Creek.

Police say the highway was extremely icy at the time, and speed and slippery roads are considered factors in the crash. Along with wearing a seatbelt, drivers are reminded to be aware of changing weather conditions and drive accordingly.
