Group to rally against use of circus animals in Grande Prairie

A local group will be advocating for circus animal rights later this month. Organizer of the April 9th rally Megan Baile explains that people started to get involved once the circus was announced to be coming to town.

“A group of people here in Grande Prairie are just sick and tired of the circus with animals coming to Grande Prairie because of the way that they treat the animals; it’s really not nice how the elephants are kept in these tiny trailers for 90 per cent of their lives.”

The group will be handing out information and speaking to people about some of the issues facing circus animals, like constant travel, prolonged confinement, the inability to socially interact with members of their own species.

The day the circus is held in Grande Prairie they will hold a similar rally, with dozens of people confirmed to take part on May 10th.
