Parents hope story of son’s death from drinking game will prevent others

The parents of a teen who died in Grande Prairie after taking part in a drinking game earlier this month are speaking out. Cory and Tracey Grattan of Fredericton, New Brunswick told the CBC their 18-year old son Brady Grattan was found unconscious and rushed to hospital in late January.

He had moved to the city to train as a welder and was at a house where young people had been playing beer pong. The game that involves throwing a ping pong ball into your opponents cup, forcing them to chug the beer inside. However, the group had been using hard alcohol.

Brady passed away on February 4th and his parents hope his story will convince people not to take part in binge drinking and drinking games. A GoFundMe page set up to help his family has already raised more than $15,000.
