Nearly $13K raised during annual fill the boot, roof sit campaign

During the annualĀ Fill the Boot Campaign $12,864 was raised for Muscular Dystrophy Canada by the Charitable Foundation of the County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service. Charitable Foundation President Matthew Bauer says that for the past six years, members have raised money by spending 48 hours on the roof of the TARA Centre during the Grande Prairie Home and Garden Show.

“The money goes to research, as well as treatment plans, they provide wheelchairs and accessibility products to people in the community who suffer from muscular dystrophy,” Bauer says.

He says throughout the 48 hours the feedback from the community is always positive, and it is always great to see the peace community come together to support the cause.

“Seeing the kids come out and interact with us, and meet us on a personal level, on a day-to-day level instead of on an emergency call is always a highlight for me.”
