100 Street traffic flow changing again

Changes will again be made to the traffic flow at the intersection of 100 Street and 116 Avenue in Grande Prairie at some point Tuesday.

Due to ongoing construction, traffic heading north on 100 Street will be funnelled into two lanes before entering the intersection, with turn lanes eliminated. However, drivers will still be able to turn left or right.

Southbound traffic on 100 Street between 128 Avenue and 116 Avenue is also now using the northbound lane, and will go back to the regular traffic flow at 116 Avenue.

The construction is part of the City of Grande Prairie’s upgrades to the old bypass after it was handed over from Alberta Transportation in 2019. At that time, the city was given $20 million

By the end of the work, a third lane will be added to 100 Street southbound from north of 124 Avenue to north of 116 Avenue, among other improvements. Construction is expected to be done by October.
