The United Way’s annual fundraising campaign is set to wrap up in a few weeks, but they are still about 30 per cent shy of their goal.
Executive Director Brenda Yamkowy says it’s important for them to reach their fundraising goals so they can continue to support their community partners in reaching their expected levels of service.
“Programs that they operate have a great impact in the community. For example there are so many meals that are delivered through the Meals on Wheels, there’s counselling programs that are also offered, and there’s multiple different programs that are run.”
The United Way North West currently supports 25 programs run by 24 different local charities.
Yamkowy says so far they have raised about $900,000 of their $1.3 million goal.
