Canadian Brewhouse fatal shooting trial underway

The trial for a man accused in the 2014 fatal shooting outside of the Canadian Brewhouse in Grande Prairie is now underway. Nicholas Richard Harris was charged with first degree murder more than two-and-a-half years after 28-year-old John William Rock was gunned down.

The Edmonton man was shot in the parking lot of the restaurant around 1 a.m. the morning of October 1, 2014 and later passed away in hospital. He had been a patron of the Canadian Brewhouse and at the time, Grande Prairie RCMP believed the shooting wasn’t random.

In addition to the murder count, Harris was charged with three counts related to the possession of a restricted firearm. He is also from Edmonton.

The trial is scheduled for 10 days in Grande Prairie.
