Historic Peace River building destroyed by fire

A historic building known as the Crown Building in Peace River has been destroyed by fire. Firefighters from the town, Weberville, and St. Isadore were called to 9810 96 Street around 10:40 p.m. Saturday night and found a garage on the south end of the building fully engulfed in flames.

The fire was spreading to the building, but firefighters couldn’t get inside due to intense fire and heat. It was completely destroyed, but no other structures were affected and no injuries were reported.

Construction machinery was brought in Sunday morning to help extinguish the blaze. An investigation into the cause is now underway. The building was home to Movement Speaks Dance and Performing Arts Centre and Move Up Magazine.
