Province hosting open house on consumer protection

An open house on consumer protection is being held Monday in Grande Prairie. The province calls it an opportunity for residents to give feedback and possible solutions for consumer issues.

Service Alberta minister Stephanie McLean has launched a series of open houses across Alberta, as a follow up to an online survey that went live earlier this summer. Anyone who can’t make the meeting can still fill it out until September 15th.

McLean is looking to hear about problems ranging from high-cost credit to door-to-door sales. So far, she says the most popular topics have been the need for a Bill of Rights, ticket sales, car repairs and return policies.

The Grande Prairie open house will run from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on September 11th in room A-211 of Grande Prairie Regional College. MLA for Calgary Glenmor Anam Kazim will be on hand.
