Accused drug trafficker caught breaking curfew

A man at the centre of a major drug bust last fall has been arrested for breaking curfew. 22 year old Elson Blue James Joy was seen driving on 90B Street around 10:30 p.m. Sunday night, which is later than his conditions allow. He also can’t have a cell phone, but one was found hidden in his vehicle.

Joy was first taken into custody in October 2016 after more than a kilogram of cocaine and large amounts of fentanyl, marijuana and GHB were found at two homes in Grande Prairie. He was charged with several possession charges, and is now facing two more counts of breaching recognizance.

Joy was originally listed as being from Kelowna but is now considered a Grande Prairie resident. He’ll be back in court on January 18th. Also arrested as part of the ALERT bust was 24 year old old Karman Singh Grewal of Langley, B.C.
