Grande Prairie man killed in Hinton crash

A Grande Prairie man has been killed in a collision near Hinton. RCMP were called to the scene on Highway 16, 2 kilometres just east of the town around 5 p.m. Sunday.

The 25 year old was a passenger in a Ford F-150 that drove into the back of another pickup that was working in a construction zone. The crew truck rolled into the ditch and the Ford that hit it suffered extensive front end damage and ended up in the centre meridian.

The 51 year old male driver and a 19 year old female passenger were taken to hospital in Edmonton with serious injuries, along with a 10 month old infant who has since been released. Their hometowns have not been released, along with the name of the deceased. He was declared dead at the scene.

The two women in the work truck had to be extricated and are in hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Police say the crash is still under investigation, but note that there was a sign slowing and diverting traffic in the lane beforehand.
