Grande Prairie celebrated it’s 100th anniversary last year and with that came the naming of 100 parks in the city. Councillor Helen Rice says families are starting to see the parks take shape.
“It is really exciting. What we experienced last year when we announced the naming of the 100 parks, was real pride in the history of Grande Prairie and the people that built this community”
30 thousand dollars was given to the parks department to install the new parks signage which Rice says could start to go in over the summer and into fall.
Rice made a point to emphasis the need for a short blurb on each sign so that in the future people who visit the parks can realize the importance of the name.
“The people of the families who have had parks named after them have put thousands of dollars of improvements in these parks.”
There will now be a schedule put together to put the dedications into each park.
