Storm to host Tight-Whitey Toss and Remembrance Day themed games this weekend

The Grande Prairie Storm will be hosting two speciality games this weekend, with both supporting the community.

On Friday, the Storm will be wearing speciality jerseys for Remembrance Day, with the jerseys getting auctioned off and proceeds going towards the Veterans Association Food Bank.

The Storm is also asking that if you are attending Friday’s game, to bring an item for the food bank, as well.

On Saturday, will be the Storm’s annual Tighty-Whitey toss, where fans bring either packaged socks and underwear and throw them on the ice after the Storm’s first goal.

Executive Director with the team, Nicole Menzies says that this game is one of her favourites on the year.

“The kids really like this one, they think its pretty funny to see packages of socks and underwear flying onto the ice.”

“As a team, we are so lucky to be in a position where we can host an event that kind of gives so much back to the community.”

Last years Tighty-Whitey toss helped fill four different rolling bins worth of donations.

All the items donated from Saturdays game, will be going towards the Rotary Clubs of Grande Prairie where they will be passing the donations along to roughly 11 different local organizations.

Both games on the weekend slate will be against the Fort McMurray Oil Barons. Puck-drop for Fridays game will be 7:00 p.m., and Saturdays will be at 6:00 p.m.
