The Grande Prairie Storm hockey team announced the #SaveOurStorm campaign on Monday January 18th and they already have 10% of their goal covered by donations. The campaign has already collected around $20,000 from supporters but their goal is to reach $200,000.
The team owes about $100,000 in unpaid bills, and need at least another $100,000 to get them through the rest of the season. They’re surviving on a week-to-week cash flow basis right now and have launched the campaign aimed at bringing in donations and sponsorships. The club says they don’t want to sell, but would be open to having a group of investors take over ownership until the Storm are back on their feet.
