Grande Prairie man facing numerous sexual assault charges, police looking for other potential victims

Grande Prairie RCMP say they believe there may be additional victims connected to a series of investigations involving a 32-year-old Grande Prairie man facing multiple charges, including sexual offences.

Police began the first investigation April 17 after a 14-year-old girl reported an alleged sexual assault. RCMP said the girl, who is from B.C., told investigators she met the suspect through social media and travelled to Grande Prairie, where she stayed at his residence for about a week.

As a result of that investigation, police laid charges of sexual assault, sexual interference, forcible confinement, assault by choking and unsafe storage of a firearm.

According to RCMP, the accused was initially remanded into custody before being released on conditions April 30.

A second investigation began May 10 after RCMP responded to a 911 call at the suspect’s residence. Police allege an 18-year-old woman from Lloydminster was assaulted after refusing sexual contact.

RCMP said charges in that case include assault, assault by choking, sexual assault and three counts of failing to comply with a release order.

A third investigation began June 18 when a 15-year-old girl reported multiple incidents that allegedly occurred between June 4 and June 18. Police allege the suspect offered the girl alcohol, drove her to his residence and sexually assaulted her.

Charges stemming from that investigation include criminal harassment, sexual interference, sexual assault and failing to comply with release conditions.

Later the same day, RCMP received a report that a man driving a yellow Chevrolet Camaro allegedly attempted to lure a 12-year-old girl into his vehicle. Police located the suspect and laid additional charges of abduction of a person under 14 and failing to comply with release conditions.

The accused was remanded into custody following a judicial interim release hearing and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on July 2.

RCMP Superintendent, Mark MacDougald confirmed that Kidd was on release conditions when some of the offences occurred.

“When an individual is charged with a criminal offence, decisions are made through the judicial process, and are based on specific circumstances in each and every case.”

RCMP are asking anyone with information about these investigations, or who believes they may be a victim, to contact Grande Prairie RCMP at 780-830-5700 or 780-830-5701.
