Lemonade Day to return to Grande Prairie in June

The registration deadline to enroll your kid for Lemonade Day is approaching.

Lemonade Day will be back in Grande Prairie for the 7th year. According to organizers, Lemonade Day is more than just a day of kids selling lemonade.

When a kid registers for Lemonade Day, they also enroll in a youth entrepreneurship program that teaches them how to start, own, and run a business, which will be their lemonade stand. Organizers added that they will also learn some life-skills such as goal setting, budgeting, customer service, marketing, and teamwork.

When Lemonade Day approaches on June 13, some of the lemonade stands that are set up around the city will be at businesses, says Andrei De Rueda Co-Leader for Lemonade Day.

“We encourage them to go connect with a business and sign a lease form that we have made. That way they get to interact with businesses in town.”

Some of the kids will be donating a portion of whatever they make towards a charity of their choice.

“We encourage them to spend some, make some and share some.”

Depending on the weather, you should see plenty kids with their lemonade stands all across the city, on June 13th.

Sarah Bateman is also a Co-Leader with Lemonade Day, she says it’s a great way to get out and support local kids.

“It’s a really good way to build community and teach the kids something. It’s really rewarding for them in the end as well. It’s a really good way to support the kids, they love interacting with people.”

Community judges will also be out judging the stands based on taste and best overall lemonade stand.

Registration can be found on the Lemonade Day website.

Deadline to register is May 22.
