Authorities are seeking information about a man alleged to have impersonated a Royal Canadian Legion member and stolen poppy boxes in Grande Prairie.
Mounties first received a complaint on Monday, Nov. 17 about a man who allegedly told store workers he was a volunteer for Royal Canadian Legion Branch 54, claiming he was collecting Poppy Drive donation boxes.
Dean Langton, president of Branch 54, said about 13 boxes have been stolen so far — and the number may rise.
“I can’t say what I’m actually feeling, it is absolutely disgusting. We’re at 13 right now that we know for sure, it may rise one or two,” he said.
The money in those boxes was intended to support local veterans.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Grande Prairie RCMP.
