Before kids and adults alike tie up their skates for another year on the rink, applications must be filled out through the city as part of its Neighbourhood Outdoor Rink Program.
The free program provides people living in Grande Prairie with the supplies needed to install and maintain small rinks for skating in parks near their homes.
Each neighbourhood will need a minimum of five committed volunteers to work on the rink and have a location already in mind as part of the application process. The city recommends that all rinks be built before the ground freezes but applications can still be submitted until December 15th.
