Newly completed pipeline anticipated to be a positive for Peace Country

Two local municipal leaders are supporting a recently completed 575-kilometre natural gas liquid and condensate pipeline.

The Reeves for the MD of Greenview and the County of Grande Prairie have positively commented on the KAPS Pipeline, which can transport up to 350,000 barrels per day of NGLs and condensate to the processing and storage hub in Fort Saskatchewan. Reeve Tyler Olsen says the pipeline is a significant platform to secure future regional investment.

“This pipeline is critical in ensuring market access of our region’s condensate and petroleum liquids products and our advantages in attracting investment, growth, and job creation, driving benefits for our region and all of Alberta.”

Reeve Bob Marshall echoed statements from his Greenview counterpart, KAPS Pipeline, operated by Keyera, which will help the region’s market with exporting and accessing condensate and petroleum liquids.

“This project strengthens our local economy, attracts vital investments, and fosters job creation, benefiting both our region and all of Alberta – this significant achievement and enhances our region’s position in the global energy landscape.”

Along with being operated by Keyera, the KAPS pipeline is 50 percent owned by Stonepeak investment firm. The MD of Greenview and the County of Grande Prairie are just two communities along the pipeline route, including 10 municipalities, 22 Indigenous communities and 60 Indigenous-owned or affiliated businesses.
