County of Grande Prairie fire restriction lifted

As of 3 p.m. Monday, the fire restriction in the County of Grande Prairie has been lifted.

The County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service lifted the restriction with the region seeing cooler temperatures and significant rain.

County officials are still urging residents to be cautious and use Fire Smart practices throughout the remainder of the wildfire season. Fire permits are required and burning is not permitted when winds reach, or are forecasted to reach, 12 kilometres an hour or higher.

Back on June 14th the fire restriction was put in place for the entire county, along with the towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith, and Wembley.
