Evacuation Alert lifted near Preston Lake

The County of Grande Prarie has ended the evacuation alert for those who live in the Preston Lake area.

The alert for those who live north of Township Road 732, west of Range Road 131 and south of Township Road 742 was lifted as of 3:21 p.m. Tuesday, June 13th after crews made progress containing the Peavine Creek wildfire with the help of rainfall in the area.

The county issued the alert back on June 7th after the fire crossed the BC – Alberta border.

Even though the alert has been lifted residents are being advised to stay connected with officials’ channels for any more information. A fire ban also remains in effect for the county, including the towns of Wembley Beaverlodge and Sexsmith, along with the City of Grande Prairie.
