Crews repairing Pat's Creek dyke as water levels stabilize

Water levels in Pat’s Creek have reportedly stabilized, after it overflowed into downtown Peace River Tuesday night.

Mayor Tom Tarvey says crews will now begin repairing the dyke between the town and the river where it was breached to release water in anticipation of an ice front upstream.

“The Peace River is still frozen at least 100 kilometres upstream of us, and the expectation is that that break up will happen in about a week to two weeks.”

Peace River will be applying for Disaster Recovery Assistance to help cover loss and damage from the flooding.
