Several drivers were caught excessively speeding over the long weekend, including one man who was seen driving 190 kilometres an hour in a 110 zone near Crooked Creek. His vehicle was stopped and the driver was issued a court summons.
Other were clocked doing between 136 and 153 kilometres an hour in 100 zones, and 139 to 162 in 110 kilometre an hour zones.
Constable Jamie Day argues that at those speeds, death is all but a certainty, adding that many innocent people have been killed or seriously injured in the past due to dangerous and reckless driving. He encourages all drivers to obey all speed limits.
