Grande Prairie City Manager Horacio Galanti resigns

Grande Prairie City Manager Horacio Galanti has resigned from his post. The resignation was accepted by members of Grande Prairie City Council on Friday night.

Shortly after the resignation was made public, councillors then voted on appointing Director of Community Services Arlen Miller as Acting City Manager.

Galanti first took on the role of Interim City Manager in 2018, when he took over the position from Bob Nicolay and took on the job on a full-time basis in February 2019.

Grande Prairie Major Jackie Clayton says they are thankful for the service of former CAO Galanti, and while there is never an ideal time for a leader to step away from an organization, they are looking towards the future.

“We are looking forward to the positive in this as begin the work on our strategic plan, which in turn sets the direction for the city for the entire term,” she says.

“Council is very confident in Mr. Miller’s wealth of municipal leadership experience and we are confident this will serve the organization in this critical role in this critical time.”

No word on when the decision on a full-time CAO will be made.
