Freezing rain warning issued for Grande Prairie

A freezing rain warning has been issued for the Grande Prairie region as a band of nasty weather is slated to slide through the area. Environment Canada says the freezing rain is expected to develop late Wednesday along the BC border before spreading eastward throughout the night.

That means surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Experts are suggesting that all non-essential travel get delayed until conditions improve.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
