Grande Prairie-Mackenzie MP Chris Warkentin has issued a letter to Filomena Tassi, Receiver General of Canada, requesting that unvaccinated Canada Post employees get back to work using the safe option of rapid testing.
Warkentin adds that many Peace Country residents have been unable to receive mail due to staff shortages following the federal government’s decision to lay off any employees that are unable to or choose not to be vaccinated. According to the letter, Warkentin’s office has received a large number of phone calls, emails, and letters from residents regarding problems receiving mail in the Peace Country region.
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers has also issued a challenge for the rapid testing option to get staff back to regular levels.
Warkentin submitted the letter on December 22nd, 2021.
