Drysdale says election doing right by Albertans

PC Party candidate and incumbent for the Grande Prairie-Wapiti constituency Wayne Drysdale is preparing for an election different than those in the past.

Drysdale will be one of those taking part in the Grande Prairie and District Chamber of Commerce All Candidates forum next week.

He says this election should be and is about the current financial situation in the province, and that is what the debate should centre around.

“I would hope that everybody presents their plan to address that financial situation. We have a good plan and I hope to take advantage of the situation to get our plan out their and explain it to the people.”

The timing of the election has been heavily criticized, but Drysdale says this is Premier Jim Prentice trying to do right by Albertans and giving them the opportunity to vote on the 2015 budget and tell the government whether or not they approve.

“We’ve had to present a pretty tough budget and it’s not always easy to show people a tough budget and ask for your vote in an election, but it’s the right thing to do, we’re in a tough financial situation right now but we’ve got a great 10 year plan to get out of.”

Drysdale is running against NDP candidate Mary Dahr, Wildrose candidate Laila Goodridge, and Rory Tarant who is under the Alberta Party banner. Albertans go to the polls on May 5-th.
