Better internet access on the way for Saddle Hills County

Saddle Hills County has been given a $500,000 grant to expand high speed internet service for residents.

The funds from the Final Mile Rural Community Program will cover up to 75 per cent of the cost of building at least four new tower sites and shelters, as well as other costs like electronic equipment.

Dunvegan-Central Peace-Notley MLA Hector Goudreau argues that improving internet access will in turn enhance the quality of life and business opportunities.

Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Verlyn Olson adds that when they did community consultations in rural areas, the government heard that having better internet access was necessary to helping businesses and communities grow.
