Latitude 55 brings home two awards from Alberta Beverage Awards

One of the owners of a Grande Prairie distillery is in high spirits after winning two awards for his products. Latitude 55 recently picked up Best in Class for moonshine and Judges Select for vodka at the Alberta Beverage Awards. Head Distiller Nick Kebalo says he’s most proud of the Judges Select honour.

“It’s another top award in a very, very competitive category. There are dozens and dozens of entries into that category usually every year through the Alberta Beverage Awards competition and they’ve been running that competition for 10 years so I’m really proud of that one.”

Latitude 55 is a relatively new business officially opening its doors at the end of 2018 with its first vodka hitting shelves in January of this year. Kebalo says these awards are a testament to everything his team has done.

“Just all the hard work we’ve put in in the last couple years; first getting everything in place and being able to start producing and then over the last eight or nine months actually being able to produce product it’s just a credit to the team.”

Looking ahead, Kebalo says he plans to continue working some new products that should be on the shelves in the next few months.
