Mild December weather has delayed the opening of the Aquatera skating oval at the Eastlink Centre, but not by much.
The Peace Wapiti Skating Club had hoped to have the grand opening this weekend, but say it will likely now be early in the new year.
Long Track Coordinator Xaverie Mclennan says once it’s open she hopes to see lots of families using the oval along with the club.
“It’s open 24 hours, so it’s free and open for fun skating just about every day of the week and this year we are hoping to maybe open up a few ice times for speed skating practice this year.”
Mclennan says while they won’t have their grand opening until early January at least, the oval will hopefully be open to use by Christmas day.
