Grande Prairie celebrating International Volunteer Day

December 5th is celebrated around the world as International Volunteer Day, and here in Grande Prairie, the Volunteer Services Bureau is celebrating with its annual celebration breakfast.

From 7 to 9 a.m. at the Golden Age Centre Friday morning, volunteer-based organizations and their supporters are being served breakfast by the Rotary barbecue crew, with coffee provided by Tim Hortons and juice by Northside Safeway.

It’s free for volunteers, but they’re asked to bring a new pair of adult socks for locals in need.

We’ll also learn this morning who has been named 2014 Volunteer of the Year and Corporate Volunteer of the Year.
